C4 - Electra

There were several different variations and colour of the Electra all using the same Guide Blade Type and Engine. With a production run that lasted for 5 years from 1968 till 1973. In that time there were 7 different types produced, not including the C11 Super Electra and C13 Tiger Special.  The various types of the Electra are listed below:

  • Type 1:  no catalogue number moulded into body in error;
  • Type 2:  had "C3-11" moulded onto body in error;
  • Type 3:  had "C4-11" moulded onto the underside of the body;
  • Type 4:  had "C4-11" moulded onto the underside with a squared off rear wheel arch, no number plate moulding at the front and moulded rim on rear panel;
  • Type 5:  type 4 was the same as Type 3 with the addition of a bulge on the rear wheel arches;
  • Type 6:  type 5 was the same as Type 4 with the addition of an aerofoil; and
  • Type 7:  second mould was produced due to damage to the first. Same as Type 6 with the addition of a rim around racing number on bonnet

"Raced Tuned" versions were also available.

Most common examples of this car are in orange, the car is easy to restore and after market parts are readily available. It handles well with new tyres on the rear and would be a good piece for any collection.

G20 - Base rounded at rear. Fixing is by way of a nut to carrier which clips into car.

Motor Type:

E7 'Large Can'

  • Johnson type 222 motor comes in red, blue and cerise. It has a rounded window in the motor case and an integral axle unit with the motor. The axle unit is usually in metal.
  • Listed in catalogues as 'Raced Tuned' the Raymond motor comes in grey, silver or blue, it has an oblong window in the motor case and has the same axle unit as the Johnson but is usually made of plastic.
