Camaro - Team Transformer

The following images are of a scratch built 1:32 Camaro slotcar that I had built and painted for my sons 2005 Christmas present. The paints used was Holts Automotive paints, the base colour is a metallic gold with a solid yellow down the centre. The art work was produced from Photoshop and Corel (with a little help from the internet), then printed onto clear decal sheet using an Epson R210. The decal sheets were then given a clear coat, then transferred onto the car. I finished it all with about 10 coats of clear over the top of the lot. The rims, bumpers and other chrome parts were finished with an automotive chrome finish.

The car body and chassis is from the Hornby/Scalextric 1:32 static model range, Product Code: K2000. Both the mounts for the guide blade and the motor were scratch built and then added to the modified chassis to accept the guide blade, motor and running gear. The motor is similar to the Scalextric unit, which was sourced from Dick Smiths. I found with this motor it runs a little slower than the scalextric counter part, which is perfect for a young budding Scalextric enthusiast! The guide blade is from the Ninco spare parts range and is spring loaded. The motor has been mounted in the side winder position and the gear and pinion are from Scalextric. I finished the chassis with a flat magnet from Ninco.

Over all I was happy with the finish, there would be a few things I will do differently for my next project, but overall my son loved it and sits proudly on his shelf.
